Time to start collecting those racing snails with Melbourne Cup Day on next tuesday.

St Patrick’s has a long traditional history of celebrating Melbourne Cup Day with our iconic snail races, fashions on the field as well as the annual class sweeps.

SNAIL RACE: Students are asked to bring in a snail in a decorated float to school next Tuesday, ready to race in the class event. Please ensure snails are looked after and treated with kindness. Each class will hold their own snail race and the winning snails from each class event, will be placed in a ring for the final race. The winner will be presented with a special trophy.

FASHIONS ON THE FIELD: Students are asked to come dressed in their finest ‘race going’ outfits on Tuesday. Please ensure students wear sensible shoes for playtime and have their shoulders covered for outdoor play.

CLASS SWEEPS: Teachers will organise class sweeps for fun! Teachers will send out individual class messages regarding their class sweeps.
